Established in 1941, the Tuskegee Airmen was a segregated program of African-American troops who were trained as flyers and sent into combat to support ground troops with dive bombing and strafing attacks, and to escort bombers on critical missions. Collectively, they destroyed or damaged more than 400 enemy aircraft and more than 1000 land and sea targets. They even sank an enemy destroyer with nothing more than machine gun fire.
Against a backdrop of bigotry, humiliating segregation and discrimination, the Tuskegee Airmen achieved a record of unique accomplishments -- a testimony to their skills, discipline and heroism.
Johnny Walker, whose uncle was one of these heroes, has taken on the task of keeping the Tuskegee Airmen in our minds and hearts through pictures, momentos and memorabilia.
We, at A Better Copy, are proud to lend a hand and present a number of ways in which you can be part of remembering their daring feats with calendars, mugs, T-shirts, etc. of the famous Tuskegee Airmen. Click on the picture to see a larger version.
